The Baby Sitter

Artist Dick LaBonte started painting in oils in the 1960s, doing portraits and scenes in a more realistic style. Two large paintings were created in 1964, which were his first of the Jersey Shore. This is one of them. Families traveling to the shore would often hire nannies or babysitters to accompany them, and this was one who watched the children of a family who lived nearby, One could say this was his first "bathing beauty" painting.
