A personal favorite of the artist's, this was painted in 1978 and LaBonte's first painting of the Bluffs Hotel. Built in 1891 by Anna Johnson, the Bluffs was an impressive four-story structure extending from the street to the boardwalk. In 1910 it boasted having 500 feet of porches. In 1896 the smaller building was built, housing an Assembly Room where there were dances three nights a week. The Bluffs sustained alot of damage from various storms, and in 1953 the main building was destroyed. The Bachelor's Quarters, which was originally across the street, was moved into its place. The Bluffs continued to be a social gathering place for Bay Headers, and even though torn down in 1996, people still talk about the great hotel (see "The Bluffs Bar" by the artist). This scene is missing the Murphy Kid! But later the owners had the artist put him in.
