Rigging Up

The sneakboxes were popular for racing and for fun. These are 20-foot sneakboxes, and raced on Barnegat Bay around 1910. The women are preparing for a race in this painting. Mr. LaBonté commented that the fun part of doing this painting was attaching all the lines in the right places. There's Murphy on the flag pole again! I believe the signal flags spell out Bay Head.
