Centennial Day at Spring Lake B&T

Artist Dick LaBonte often said that he used the historical landmarks in his paintings much like placing scenery on a stage, readying it for his characters - the figures, their humanity, and their humor. When commissioned to paint a particular subject, this presented even more of a challenge, and this painting included columns, stairs, railings and a huge saltwater pool, filled. The fun didn't start until the figures arrived.
