A long time resident of New Jersey, Point Pleasant Beach artist
Marcy Paley Cohen is well known among her peers, and her
artwork has been collected by her patrons for over twenty-five
years. She has owned and operated art galleries and studios,
given art classes and participated in many workshops under
well-known artists such as Bernard Abelew, Santo Pezzutti and
Charles Movalli. She has studied under a variety of revered
artists such as Robert Beverly Hale, Anthony Palumbo and R.
Pousette-Dart at the Art Student's League in New York and Ted
Goerschner and Earl Tyler in New Jersey. While living in
California for seven years until last October, Marcy studied
figure drawing, print making and sculpting at Delta College,
under Bill Williams, Mario Mareno and Rowland Cheney.
Some of the prestigious awards won by Marcy include the
"Red Dot" Award for abstract expressionism at the Art
Students League in 1988, the Award of Excellence in 1994 at the
Haggin Museum in Stockton, California; First Place in Oil
Painting in 1992, Second Place in Oil Painting in 1993 and First
Place in Pastel in 1994 at the Unitarian Fall Art Festival in
Stockton, California; and Artistic Excellence at Brielle Day Fine
Arts Festival in 1987. Her work is presently on display at the
Legacy Gallery in Stockton, California and the Anchor &
Palette Gallery, in Bay Head, New Jersey.
