Originally from Buffalo, William Bunting earned a Fine Arts
degree at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, NY. Now
residing in New Jersey with his wife and two children, he spends
his time teaching drawing and creating realistic renderings and
humble, timeless themes of classic vehicles, often in settings
representing America of times gone by. Bunting has won many
awards for these unusual oils, including Best in Show at the
Hudson Artists of New Jersey's 47th Annual Regional Show and Best
in Show at the 17th Annual "Art on Waverly" Show in
Madison, New Jersey. He was featured at Artist of the Month at
the Edison Township Municipal Complex and featured at the SVA
Galleries in New York City in their "The Disposable
Culture" exhibit. His commissions include paintings for
Circle Playhouse in Piscataway, designing signs and logos for
businesses as well as paintings of specific automobiles for
individuals.
William started exhibiting at the Anchor & Palette Gallery
two years ago. His nostalgic oils remind the viewer of the beauty
of the vintage autos and trucks that have been lost along with
their surroundings: the diners that used to dot the old highways,
the drive-in movie theaters, the old motels along the roads now
forgotten and overpowered by the interstates. To add to the fun
of the paintings, William makes his own frames, artfully
including an old spark plug here, coil there. Not all of
William's paintings are in old surroundings. He puts some of his
vehicles in more familiar spots, on the beach, in a local parking
lot. If a patron has a favorite spot or vehicle, William will
paint it. Prices range from $400 up to $1,200.
